We are Rosario and Osman Gomez proud operators of the New Mountain Rest Inn.
Mountain Rest was built at the close of the Victorian era and offers many beautiful period antiques of style but also comfort in its country setting. The historical surface is grounded, however, in 21st century technology and comfort. Thus, enjoy the grandeur and ease of this large Victorian home while setting aside the stresses of today’s work world.
Beware though: this home is doily-free as the current owners are of the mind that gradually took hold amongst late Victorians: “sometimes less can be more.” The other real difference in this home from its Victorian sisters in town, and indeed, one of its finest features, are the incredible old windows with their 48 squares atop and clear, albeit wavy, bottoms. There is no lace hiding these windows in the public rooms and these are truly light-filled rooms.
When Mountain Rest was built, it was designed in part to reflect the station in life of a home dweller with significant financial status. Not only is this suggested by the size of the porch but also the five public rooms on the first floor and their three fireplaces, a music room with a grand Knabe piano and 5 guest rooms on the second floor with two more fireplaces.
amongst the amenities offered by Mountain Rest Inn you will encounter a delightful gourmet Breakfast served every morning.
